Kindness in Bloom

A Four-Week Community Meditation Series with Rashmi Bismark

Tuesdays – May 19, May 26, June 2, and June 9
7:00pm – 7:45pm

Join this four-week community fundraiser for the VVS Imagination Library while deepening your meditation practice. Class dates are: May 19, May 26, June 2, and June 9.

Kindness rarely blossoms all at once. It grows quietly, in how we notice, how we relate, how we stay, and how we express our intrinsic wisdom of caring.

This four session series explores four essential facets of the expansive mind:heart. Appreciative Joy, Friendship, Equanimous Care, and Compassion are supportive qualities shared in yogic traditions for nurturing mental-emotional well-being and present awareness.

Contemplative ways of working with these innate attitudes are relational. They allow for subtle shifts in inner perspective that can restore a sense of inner freedom. Less about self-improvement, forcing certain ways of being, or fixing an emotion, these are practices that cultivate conditions for being with the heart in all its phases – both open and closed. By training subtle ways of disrupting inner/outer harm, they allow intrinsic care to emerge – to bloom – naturally.

Shared practices will include mindful walking, stillness practices – seated & laying down, and formal variations of loving-kindness meditation inspired by modern mindfulness traditions and lineages of Buddha dharma. Beginners and long-time practitioners are welcome alike! No prior experience with meditation is necessary.

This series is a community fundraiser for the VVS Imagination Library. Suggested Donation (non-obligatory): $36 for the full series – enough to sponsor a local child for the VVS Imagination Library for an entire year. No one will be turned away for lack of donation.

Donation Info: You may contribute online with a credit card using this link: https://square.link/u/WbMvgOpt OR anytime before the series starts at the circulation desk OR at the first class on Tuesday, May 19.
