Our New Name
Why did the library change its name?
Our new name reflects the communities we serve. As the library continues to grow and evolve, we wanted a name that better represents Vernon, Verona, and Sherrill and the people who use and support the library every day.
The library is supported by residents across the VVS area, and this name reflects that shared investment. It also creates a stronger, more inclusive identity while continuing to provide the same services, resources, and welcoming space our community values.
Our tagline, Where Community Meets Curiosity, reflects this as well, bringing together people, ideas, and opportunities for learning and discovery.
Why "Corner” in the new name?
The name reflects both our location and our role in the community. We are located in the southwestern corner of the VVS district, but more importantly, we are in our community’s corner, here to support, connect, and serve.
“VVS Corner Library” represents who we serve and who we strive to be.
Can I write checks to the library using the new name?
Yes. The library will be doing business as VVS Corner Library, but checks can still be made out to either VVS Corner Library or Sherrill-Kenwood Free Library. Both are valid and will be processed as usual.
What has changed?
Only the name. All of our services, programs, and resources remain the same. You can still borrow books, access the digital library, attend programs, use public computers and WiFi, and participate in events. Everything you’ve enjoyed in the past is still available!
Do I need a new library card?
No. Your current library card remains valid. The name change does not affect library accounts, borrowing privileges, or access to services.
